After a bad week (March18-25) when Mollywood downed it shutters because of heavy rains, Good Friday and Easter weekend, the final days of March seem more welcoming.

The schools have closed for the two month long summer vacation and crowds are back to theatres.

Mulla, with a tonsured Dileep, was released a couple of days ago and captured the top slot with encouraging opening day collections.

The top five movies of the weekend are:

1. Mulla – Even after initial mixed responses, the film had good initial collections. It is to be seen how much longer the movie can stay at the top.

2. Cycle – Youngsters are flocking to Johny Antony's flick again as vacations have started. The first genuine super hit of the year is an impressive thriller.

3. Malabar Wedding – Directors Rajesh and Faisal's maiden attempt was greeted well at the box office. A fresh, simple storyline, this comedy will very likely do well if publicized well.

4. Katha Parayumpol – An average collection sees this Sreenivasan-Mammootty starrer inching towards the hundred days mark this week.

5. Kerala Police - Kalabhavan Mani's cop act couldn't rake in the moolah. Mostly, this will serve as a stop gap until the biggies of summer hit theatres.

The early releases of the year like College Kumaran, Calcutta News and Raudram are still playing. College Kumaran, Calcutta News have been identified as duds and the Mammootty starrer is an average hit, mainly due to the impressive initial collections.
