heart
robbing
Bollywood
heroine
of
the
seventies
and
eighties,
appeared
in
many
unforgettable
roles
in
Malayalam
films
like
Elizabeth
in
Madanolsavam
(1978),
Usha
in
Palangal
(1981),
Savitha
in
Saravarsham
(1982).
Zarina's
combination
with
Kamal
Hassan
in
Madanolsavam
was
superb
and
the
melodious
songs
of
the
film
are
popular
even
today.
Another
popular
movie
of
hers
is
Chamaram,
in
which
she
appeared
in
the
role
of
a
lecturer.
Now,
she
is
all
set
to
re-enter
Malayalam
through
Prithviraj
starrer
Calendar
directed
by
debutant
Mahesh.
In
this
film,
Zarina
will
play
a
character
named
Thangam
George,
a
widowed
professor
who
lives
for
her
only
daughter
Kochu
Rani
(Navya
Nair).
Earlier,
many
senior
artistes
like
Sumalatha,
Mohini,
Sita
and
Rohini
declined
this
role
for
different
reasons.
Coincidentally,
Zarina's
role
as
a
professor
will
be
shot
at
the
same
location
of
Mar
Baselious
college,
Kottayam,
where
her
lecturer's
role
in
Chamaram
was
also
shot
nearly
25
years
ago.
Planned
as
a
hilarious
comedy,
Calendar
will
have
Prithviraj
in
the
lead
as
Sojashan
Olikkara.
Other
cast
members
include
Mukesh,
Jagadeesh,
Jagathy
Sreekumar,
Vijayaraghavan,
Mallika
Sukumaran
and
Sooraj
Venjaranmoodu.
Babu
Janardhanan
pens
the
script
for
Calendar,
which
has
already
started
shooting
at
Kottayam
last
week.
Calendar
will
be
Prithviraj's
Vishu
release.
Born

Visakhapatnam,
Zarina
debuted
with
the
Hindi
film
Ishq
Ishq
Ishq
(1974)
with
Dev
Anand.
She
became
popular
in
1976
through
Basu
Chatterjee's
Chit
Chor
opposite
Amol
Palekar.
