Khilafat on Babri Masjid riots

Gifrey Jaleel is adapting P Valsala's novel Vilaapam into a movie Khilafat. Riots and massacre never lead to anything concrete but only pave the way for more tragedy and disaster. Khilafat is one story which highlights this fact. The movie movies ahead through the memories of Malunni, who witnessed the Bombay riots that followed the Babri Masjid demolition. Malunni is the grand daughter of the famous Raman Vaidyar of the Naalakathu Tharavaadu. Khilafat then narrates her relationship with her fiancee Mahini and how she shares her experiences with him.

Manoj K Jayan, Anirudh, K R Vijaya, Jagathy Sreekumar, Janardhanan, Vinumohan, Bhama, Zarina Wahab, Praveena, Baiju, Shobhamohan, Suraj Venjaramoodu and others play key roles in the movie. Sahar Kadavathu has written the screenplay and dialogues for this movie. The shooting of Khilafat is progressing in Malappuram.
