During a function held on 16 January at Kochi to celebrate the 101st day of the film, Moser Baer Entertainment, India's No. 1 Home Entertainment Company, has released the DVD of army officer-turned-director Major Ravi's much-acclaimed Mohanlal starrer Kurukshetra, one of the exceptional war action dramas of recent times. The function was attended by the entire crew of Kurukshetra along with leading filmmakers like director Joshi, producers Alwyn Antony and Antony Perambavu.

Moser Baer also released the DVD of yet another Mohanlal starrer Aakashagopuram, an offbeat film directed by K.P. Kumaran, at the Dubai Film Festival in December 2008. The company, which sells legal CDs and DVDs at the lowest prices in the world (Rs. 28 and Rs. 34 respectively), is expected to bring out more Malayalam film titles shortly.

Kurukshetra, a sequel to Keertichakra, is based on the director's hazardous experiences of the Kargil war between India and Pakistan between May and July 1999 in Kashmir. Released in October 2008, Kurukshetra has already turned to be a hit commercial hit, fetching an opening record collection of 90 lakhs on the very first day.

Produced by Santhosh Damodaran under the Damor Films banner, Kurukshetra has Mohanlal as Colonel Mahadevan, who is determined to reclaim the land grabbed by Pakistani soldiers in the Kargil valley. Siddique, Biju Menon, Cochin Haneefa and Sooraj Venjaranmoodu are also in the star cast.
