Lohithadas has left the stage and all that remains is a looming silence. The celebrated scriptwriter and director vacated the stage and all were caught unaware. With Lohithadas' death following a cardiac arrest, the Malayalam film industry has suffered an irrepairable loss. It is no wonder that our superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal sense themselves being trapped in shifting sands with no respite.
Mammootty could hardly articulate his words to say, "The world is such that people just disappear like this and it is really painful. We very recently had a long talk on a forthcoming film."
A grief stricken Mohanlal said, “It was Lohithadas' script that was largely instrumental in making my acting career a success. We worked closely on numerous projects and we had finalised to work in two forthcoming projects and now he is no more."
People from different walks of life like artistes, writers, leaders and others poured in to pay their respects to the great writer and director, who had sensed the pulse of the common man and his tribulations close to his heart.
Some of his noted films include Ezhuthappurangal, Kudumbapuranam, Mukthi, Kireedom, Jathakam, Mudra, Mahayanam, Dasaradham, Sasneham, His Highness Abdullah, Kuttettan, Bharatham, Amaram, Dhanam, Kamaladalam, Aadharam, Kauravar, Valayam, Padheyam, Venkalam, Valsalyam, Chenkol, Thoovalkkottaram, Sallapam, Bhoothakkannadi, Karunyam, Ormacheppu, Kanmadam, Joker, Veendum Chila Veettukaryangal, Arayannangalude Veedu, Soothradharan, Kasthuriman, Chakram, Chakkaramuthu and Nivedyam.
The last rites were carried out by his eldest son Harikrishnan at Lohi's house in Amaravathy in Lakkidi, Palakkad district near the banks of the Bharathapuzha on Monday (June 29) at 11 am in the morning. Lohithadas has abandoned his journey through the heart of cinema and many dreams have crashed mid way.
