Sunny days for Malayalam movies

By By: Arya Aiyappan

Malayalam movies are surging great heights as seven new comers made their debut as filmmakers in just a span of two weeks. Ranjith Shankar who has made his debut through the Dileep-Sreenivasan starrer Passenger has stolen the show by treading the road less travelled. Swati Bhaskar's dark thriller Currency has not captured the attention of the theatre goers but the director has definitely got his due share of recognition.

Actor cum producer Baburaj who has made his debut through the thriller Black Dalia has managed to put up a fair show for a debutant director like him. Bhagwan shot in a record time of 17 hours has catapulted Prashanth Mamapully to fame but the film has failed to make a mark at the box office.

Another actor turned director Mahesh who has come up with the Malayalam movie Calendar has opted for the for usual family genre as against the above said four thrillers. Fazil-Jayakrishnakumar team of debutant directors are also geatting ready with their flick Kancheepurathe Kalyanam. Seems like sunny days are back for Malayalam cinema.
