Mohanlal graces Army’s 60th birthday parade

The 60th birthday parade of the Territorial Army was held with great pomp and show at the Delhi Cant Army Parade Ground. However what turned out to be the highlight of the day was the presence of Mohanlal and his wife Suchitra. They shared the gallery with the Defence Minister A K Antony, Army Chief Deepak Kapoor and other senior officers to witness the Army parade, of which the actor is also a part.

The veteran actor was quoted saying, ''It is one of the best moments in my life - to become a part of this great institution called Indian Army, which has been serving the nation altruistically. Even in cinema, I feel very happy and honored whenever I get a chance to be in an army uniform.'' The actor has certainly set an example for the common public reminding them of the nobleness of the profession.

Once the parade was over, Mohanlal put on the clothes of a Major, to shoot for a short advertisement film for the promotion of Territorial Army. The actor was all the more eager and was adeptly handling the situation to which he has been accustomed over the years. He appealed to the youth, ''The army is in need for more and more youth, who have that spirit of nationalism, to serve the country in times of peril. And I am happy to be an ambassador, who can attract more and more people to this great institution''.
