Mohanlal bags the Sree Chithira Tirunal award

Mohanlal has been chosen for this year's Sree Chithira Tirunal award, instituted by the Sree Chithira Tirunal Trust in fond memory of the late King of Travancore. The award includes a cash price of one lakh rupees and a citation.

Mohanlal's latest Tamil movie Unnaipol Oruvan with Kamal Hassan has garnered a good opening at the box office and has got rave reviews regarding the treatment and the superb acting skills of the stalwarts. Unnaipol Oruvan is a remake of the Hindi movie A Wednesday.

Sree Chithira Tirunal award was instituted in 2006 to honour those people who have rendered exceptional contributions in the field of art, science, literature, medicine, education and cinema. M S Swaminathan, ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair and National Security advisor M K Narayanan are some of those who have received this award earlier.
