Mohanlal and Sreenivasan, the best combination in Malayalam movies (Dasan and Vijayan), join again for T.K. Rajeev Kumar's Breaking News. Under the banner of Maniyan Pillai productions, actor Maniyan Pillai Raju is producing the film.

The story highlights the suicide of farmers due to bankruptcy. Sreenivasan dons the role of a farmer named Viswan Kundoor. He decides to commit suicide with his family and declares the decision in public and keeps a board in front of his house regarding his decision to suicide due to bankruptcy. This unusual act of Viswan Kundoor attracts the media. They reach to cover the incident. There starts the Breaking News. Mohanlal dons the role of a journalist who comes to discuss the issue for the channel.

The screenplay and dialogues have been written by Venu and Rajeev Kumar. Both are working with Asianet news Channel. Ravi Varman will wield the camera.
