Resul Pookutty honoured in Kerala

The Oscar award winner Resul Pookutty was honoured by the Government of Kerala at a grand reception conducted at the VJT hall, Thiruvananthapuram on Friday. He arrived at Thiruvananthapuram Airport in the afternoon. He was led to the hall from therewith a rousing reception. A huge crowd had gathered at the civic reception venue to greet the Malayali who had brought the rare honour to the State.They cheered as Resul Pookutty, his wife Babin Shadiya and children Rayan and Salna climbed on to the dais.

The reception was organised by the Department of Culture and the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. Ministers and MLAs attended the function. Poet O.N.V. Kurup who felicitated Pookutty on behalf of the government and the public likened him to a Trojan hero returning to his home state after winning great honours. He also said that the State would produce more such creative talents. Resul Pookutty, in reply to the felicitations, said he was overwhelmed by the love and affection showered on him. He said that he was happy to bring the award to the State and that it was an honour for technicians and cinema.

Chalchitra Academy chairman K.R. Mohanan welcomed him. Minister for Culture and Education M.A. Baby presented a memento by the government to Resul Pookutty. Ministers M. Vijayakumar, Benoy Viswam, K.P. Rajendran, C. Divakaran, Dy. Speaker Jose Baby, Pannian Raveendran MP, MLAs G. Karthikeyan, V. Sivankutty, V. Surendran Pillai and N. Anirudhan, Mayor C. Jayan Babu, Producers Association president G. Suresh Kumar, Thiruvananthapuram Film Fraternity chairman Rakesh, KSFDC chairman K.G. George, MACTA Federation leader Baiju Kottarakara and representatives of NGO Union, KSTA, DYFI and SFI also presented mementos to Resul Pookutty.
