Vijayakumar involved in pipemoney deal

Police suspect that actor Vijayakumar had planned to snatch away Rs. 25 lakhs from his brother's driver at Kalamassery on Tuesday with the help of gangsters. They also doubt his connections with the mafia for the pipe money. In connection with the case, the police had questioned Vijayakumar on Wednesday and he had attempted suicide during the questioning. Now he is under treatment at a hospital in Kakkanad and his condition is stable. After his discharge he would be arrested. Police have also registered two cases against him other than the fraud case that for suicide attempt and assualt against policeman.

The version given by the police goes as: A Chinese product businessman George, who is the friend of Vijayakumar, had lent Rs. 25 lakhs for the purpose of business as demanded by Vijayakumar. Two days later Vijayakumar arranged his brother's driver Henry to give back the money. But on the way, the gangsters snatched the money after spraying chilly powder. This was a preplanned action. Vijayakumar has connection with this incident and so was questioned. His brother's driver Henry and Vijayakumar's driver Jijin have also been questioned.

Meanwhile, Vijayakumar said to have tried to escape from police harassment by cutting the nerves of his wrist. Vijayakumar explained, "I never tried to commit suicide. It is true the money was given to driver Henry to hand it over to George. I did not know anything about the incidents that happened later."
