Actors Jayaram, Nedumudi Venu as well as superstars like Mohanlal, Mammootty and thespian actor Madhu were present at the annual general body meeting of AMMA, where the decision was taken.
Comedian Jagdish informed that they need fund to provide monthly assistance to 60 artistes. Moreover, four more veterans have been added this time. Jagdish, who is also the treasurer of AMMA added, “Stage show is the only way to raise the funds. We are planning to conduct the shows in next February but the venue is not finalized yet. The number of show may be more than one."
AMMA is in need of Rs 20 lakh to provide the monthly assistance to their veteran members. Jagdish further added, “The organization has also decided to dismiss the veteran actor Thilakan from AMMA as he breached the discipline. But, we have kept the doors open for him on the condition of begging apology. We are not against him."
The meeting also discussed the issues like keeping a sense of discipline on sets while shooting. Jagdish said, “Everyone welcomed the demand of the producers, who wanted the artists to follow the schedule and avoid cell phones on the sets during shooting."
The Malayalam film artistes have decided to take a noble path. On Sunday, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes Association has decided to organize stage shows for fund raising. The amount earned will be provided to aged artists as a monthly assistance.
