Asif dropped from film over match-fixing controversy

Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Asif has been dropped from the Malayalam film Mazhavillilinattamvare after the match-fixing controversy hit him hard.

Asif was supposed to play a Pakistani cricketer, who comes to Kerala for a coaching camp. He was signed for the film a couple of months ago, but now, director Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri has decided to drop him after the shocking news of match mixing surfaced.

Namboodiri said that the cricketer was supposed to start shooting for the film next month but dropped following the recent allegations against him. Now, he has started looking for his replacement. He revealed that he has two or three Pakistani cricketers in mind for the role.

Asif, one of the top Pakistani fast bowlers, is in trouble following match-fixing allegations against him and his team-mates Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Kamran Akmal.
