Prithviraj steps into Kamal Hassan's shoes

The director duo Pramod-Pappan is planning to remake the Tamil hit movie Kakkichatti in Malayalam. The original movie had superstar Kamal Hassan in the lead role. Now, in the Malayalam version, the directors are thinking to cast young superstar Prithviraj in the lead role.

Rajasekhar directed the original version, which was released 25 years ago. The movie was a runaway hit and Kamal Hassan became a superstar with this film.

The makers of the Malayalam version are yet to announce the names of other cast and crew. Jagadeesh Chandran is set to produce the movie under the banner of Kichu Films. Rajesh Jayaraman will be writing the script of the remake version.

As the lead actor of the Tamil movie, Kamal Hassan gave a powerful performance. The movie was released with English subtitles and starred Ambica, Madhvi and Satyaraj apart from Hassan. Renowned music director Ilaiyaraja composed the music of the movie.

Kakkichatti is all about a young man, who aspires to become a police officer. But constant rejection leads him to join a gang of smugglers. This is not appreciated by his lover Uma, played by Ambica. She ditches him saying that she would never marry a gangster. At the end, a shocking truth is revealed following many twists and turns.

It will be a challenge for the young Prithviraj to match the performance by superstar Kamal Hassan. Let"s see, if he can recreate the magic!
