Major Ravi starts shooting Kandahar

Malayalam filmmaker Major Ravi has started shooting for his upcoming movie Kandahar. The Army officer turned director has started shooting in the Indian Military Academy located in Dehradun. The director, who specializes in military stories, will capture the military operations here.

The story of Kandahar is about the much known Kandahar Air India flight hijack incident of 1999. The shooting of the thriller movie had started a week before the scheduled date. However, the main stars of the movie will start shooting only by next week.

The movie will star Bollywood megastar Amithabh Bachchan, Mohanlal and Ganesh Venkatraman. Mohanlal will be seen as Colonel while Mahadevan and Venkatraman will be essaying the role of sincere commandos, who are aides of the Colonel. Big B has a short cameo role of a business tycoon, whose son is one of the travelers in the hijacked flight. He has a three day shoot only.

Tamil actress Kaveri Jha will be playing an air hostess and the other heroine"s role will be performed by Ragini Dwivedi. Mohanlal will be reporting to the sets on June 25 after completing work on Christian Brothers.

The shooting of Kandahar will take place in Kerala, Delhi and Nepal. It is a huge budget film with an investment of around Rs.10-12 crore ,said the director. The huge amount is, of course, due to the involvement of big stars. Moreover, the movie is likely to be dubbed in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi.
