1993 Bombay March 12 based on Mumbai bomb blast

Superstar Mammootty's new film 1993 Bombay March 12, which is being directed by debutant Babu Janardhanan, is a historical family drama. The story of the multilingual movie is based on 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts and it focuses on the effects of the incident on common man in the city.

Babu Janardhanan has written the script for the film 1993 Bombay March 12, which is being made in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. He took up to direction after Mammootty encouraged him to do it. According to Babu, it has a very complex storyline, which has several layers of intrigue and it will be a thrilling experience for viewers.

The story of 1993 Bombay March 12 revolves around Sanathana Bhat (Mammootty), a Hindu priest who converts to Islam and becomes Sameer. He gets married to Abida (Roma), a young Muslim woman from a village in Kerala. Sameer and Abida have premonitions about the bomb blasts, which change the course of their lives forever.

The movie is being shot in Coimbatore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and various parts of Kerala and Rajasthan. Along with Mammootty, Roma, Krishna, Shaari, Lal and Babydiya are also playing important roles in it. Afsal Yusuf has composed music for Rafeeq Ahmed's lyrics, while Vipin Mohan is handling the camera. Produced by Haneef Mohammed, the film is scheduled to release on June 24, 2011.
