Subramaniyam,

honoured
with

Padma
Shri
for
his
contribution
to
Indian
cinema,
will
be
given
a
Civic
reception
at
Kochi
on
Mar
11.
According
to
sources,
the
function
will
be
inaugurated
by
Vayalar
Ravi,
the
Union
Civil
Aviation
minister.
The
reception
is
being
held
to
mark
the
Padma
Shri
honour
to
the
star.
On
the
occasion,
superstar
Mammootty
is
said
to
be
inaugurating
the
Jayaram
Foundation,
while
Union
minister
KV
Thomas
would
present
'Mangala
Pathram'
to
the
Mollywood
star.
Kochi
Mayor
Tony
Chammany
will
deliver
presidential
address.
Veterans
of
Malayalam
film
industry
are
expected
to
take
part
in
the
event.
Jayaram
has
received
several
State
and
National
level
honours
and
recognition,
but
he
was
surprised
to
hear
the
news
about
winning
a
Padma
Shri
award
from
Superstar
Mohanlal
on
the
sets
of
China
Town.
He
had
said,
"It
is
a
recognition
of
my
work
as
an
artist,
percussionist,
chenda
player
and
mimicry
artist.
For
a
person
like
me,
it
is
the
ultimate
recognition."
However,
Jayaram,
who
has
acted
in
nearly
200
films
including
both
Tamil
and
Malayalam
in
his
25-years
career,
is
one
among
the
most
busy
actors
of
South
Indian
Cinema.
Now,
he
is
working
on
the
projects
like
Make
Up
Man,
Ponner
Sankar,
Menaka
Talkies,
Naayika,
Panchamritham,
Purathekkulla
Vazhi,
Sabash
Sariyana
Potti,
Seniors
and
Golden
Jubily.
