winning
Padma
Shri
award.
He
is
very
happy
with

Government
of
India
for
recognising
his
service
as
artist,
percussionist,
Chenda
player
and
mimicry
artist.
Jayaram
was
filming
a
crucial
scene
with
Mohanlal
and
Dileep
for
Rafi
Mecartin's
comedy
film
China
Town
at
Ramoji
Rao
Studios
in
Hyderabad
on
Tuesday
afternoon.
He
was
surprised,
when
superstar
Mohanlal
reveled
the
news
about
his
selection
for
Padma
Shri
award.
He
could
not
believe
his
ears
thinking
that
he
was
pulling
his
leg.
The
Mollywood
star
is
very
happy
to
receive
the
Padma
Shri
award,
the
highest
civilian
award
given
by
the
Government
of
India.
"It
is
a
recognition
of
my
work
as
an
artist,
percussionist,
chenda
player
and
mimicry
artist.
For
a
person
like
me,
it
is
the
ultimate
recognition.
I
just
can't
ask
for
more!" the
Time
of
India
quotes
him
as
saying.
However,
Jayaram
has
acted
in
nearly
200
films
including
both
Tamil
and
Malayalam
in
his
25-years
career.
He
has
received
several
state
awards
from
both
Kerala
and
Tamil
Nadu,
but
for
the
first
time,
he
is
being
honoured
with
national
level
recognition
like
Padma
Shri.
