Salim Kumar receives National Awards

Malayalam actor Salim Kumar has received the Best Actor National Film Award from the President Pratibha Patil at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan in an award ceremony, held on 9th September. Salim Kumar with his family reached New Delhi to receive the prestigious award for his histrionics in Adaminte Makan Abu.

Director Salim Ahmed and producer Ashraf Bedi of Adaminte Makan Abu received the award for the Best Film of 2010. Madhu Ambat walked away with the Best Cinematographer, while Issac Thomas Kottukapilli got the Best Background Score for this Malayalam movie.

Meanwhile, Tamil stars Dhanush and Saranya Ponvannan bagged the Best Actor awards for their acting in movies Aadu Kalam and Thenmarykku Paruvakattu, respectively. Sabu Cyril (art direction), Indrans Jayan (costume design), Dr Biju, BC Joshi, Sanker Mohan, Snehal R Nair, KR Manoj, Ranjini Krishnan, Hari Kumar Nair, Shyni Jacob Benjamin and Joshi Mathew also received award from President.

Noted Tamil film director K Balachander received Dada Sahib Phalke Award. Vetrimaran, who was to receive the Best Director award, was absent on the big award event of India.
