Tejabhai and Family release postponed

The release of the much anticipated Tejabhai and Family starring Prithviraj and Akhila in the lead role has been tentatively postponed to December 30, 2011. The film was set to release on August 26, 2011.

As per news reports, the decision of postponing the film has been taken by producers Shantha Murli and Murli Madhavan Nair of Murli Movies, keeping the interests of theatre owners in the state.

Tejabhai and Family, directed by Deepu Karunakaran was the solo movie set to release on August 26 as the producers wanted to cash in on the four day weekend. However, due to the vehement opposition by theatre owners, the producers had to rethink on their decision.

The theatre owners argue that if commercial films like Tejabhai and Family were to release during the holy month of Ramzan, then it would have an adverse affect on the collections at the theatres, especially in the Muslim dominated North Kerala.
