The last weekend (Independence Day and Ramzan - Aug 15 to 20) saw a number of Malayalam films clash at the Box Office. As expected, it was Dileep's Mr Marumakan (released on August 18) and Mammootty's Thappana (released on August 19), which managed to rock the Kerala Box Office. The two films took off well and had a decent opening. While the film Friday opened to a lukewarm response, Allu Arjun's Gajapokkiri did average business at the Box Office.
Dileep's comedy Mr Marumakan was at the first spot as within three days (Aug 18, 19 & 20). The film grossed approximately Rs 2.90 crores from 72 centres. Mammootty's Thappana which released in 80 screens on August 19 was spotted second.
Thattathin Marayathu remained constant in the third spot with Ustad Hotel at number four. Gajapokkiri is at number five as far as Box Office collections are concerned.
