Amala Paul Was The Third Choice For Thalaivaa

Amala Paul became noted after receiving critical acclaim for her work by playing the title role in the Tamil flick Mynaa. She will be seen opposite Vijay in the upcoming movie Thalaivaa. Reports claim that Amala Paul was the director's third choice for Thalaivaa. Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Yami Gautam were approached initially for the female leads.

Thalaivaa is said to be a political thriller. The movie also features Ragini Nandwani, Rajeev Pillai, Santhanam and Sathyaraj in supporting roles. This film is preceded by Vijay's 2012 Tamil blockbuster Thuppakki.

Amala Paul received her first success in Tollywood. Her first release in 2013 was in VV Vinayak's movie Naayak, opposite Ram Charan Teja. The movie went on to become one of the biggest critical as well as commercial success of the year.

Amala was first seen in a supporting role in the Malayalam film Neelathamara. In a Tamil film, she received critical acclaim for the portrayal of a controversial character Sindhu Samaveli. Her last release in Malayalam was Run Baby Run, in which she played a senior editor of a channel. Mohanlal played the male lead in the film. The film was a big commercial success and her performance as well as her chemistry with Mohanlal were highly appreciated.
