Anoop Menon Turns Director
Anoop Menon has shown his potential as a script writer. Mollywood witnessed some good movies under his scripting. Beautiful, Pakal Nakshatrangal, Cocktail, Trivandrum Lodge, etc., were some of his scripted movies. Now the latest buzz is that the actor is all set to make his debut as a director. It has been reported that Anoop will direct Mammootty is his first venture.
Anoop Menon has already started the script work for this untitled movie. Other cast and crew is yet to be decided. The actor is currently busy with four projects which are under filming. Movies 1983 along with Nivin Pauly, Lavender with Rahman and Nishan, Mazhaneerthullikal with Meera Jasmine and Pattam Pole with Dulquar Salman are his upcoming projects as an actor.
Anoop Menon was in news recently for a rumour stating that he was dating Meghna Raj, his co-star in most of his films. He did not deny the statement then, but later the actress came forward and denied of having any relationship with Anoop.
Meanwhile Mammootty's last flick Kadal Kadannu Oru Mathukutty was a disappointment for the audience. The much hyped movie failed to perform with its competitors. But, he will be back with his next release Kunjananthante Kada.

Pakal Nakshatrangal
Anoop played the role of Mohanlal's son in this film. This was his debut movie as a screenplay writer. The movie was about the lives of a group of intellectuals in Kerala in the later half of the 1990s. The film was critically acclaimed, but was a commercial failure.
Thirakkatha
Anoop played main character in Thirakkatha by Ranjith, portraying different stages in the life of filmstar Ajay Chandran, loosely based on the personal life of Kamal Hassan. His co-stars were Priyamani and Prithviraj.
Cocktail
The movie was co-written by Anoop Menon and was an uncredited remake of the Canadian film Butterfly on a Wheel. The film starred Jayasurya, Anoop Menon, Samvrutha Sunil, Fahad Fazil, Innocent and Mamukkoya.
Pranayam
Anoop Menon played the role of Suresh Menon, the son of Anupam Kher and Jaya Prada. The movie was the 300th film of Mohanlal and was directed by Blessy.
Beautiful
It was written by Anoop Menon. Jayasurya, Anoop Menon and Meghna Raj played lead roles in the film. It was the story about the intense bonding of two friends, one quadriplegic and other a musician.
Namukku Parkkan
The film was directed by Aji John, starring Anoop Menon and Meghna Raj in the lead roles. Jayasurya played a guest appearance, while Mohanlal made a vocal appearance in the film.
Trivandrum Lodge
It was also written by Anoop Menon. He played a pivotal role in this film. The movie followed the lives of the residents in a lodge and their relationships.
Buddy
The movie featured Anoop Menon, Srikanth, Bhumika Chawla, Balachandra Menon, Babu Antony, Asha Sharath, Arun Midhun and Mithun Murali. Balachandra Menon made a comeback after a long time through this film. The film was a flop at the Box Office.
Awards And Recgnitions
In 2008, he won the Kerala State Film Awards for the Second Best Actor for his movie Thirakkatha, and Filmfare Award for Supporting Role in Thirakkatha. In 2011, he won the South Indian International Movie Awards for Best Lyricist for the song 'Mazhaneerthullikal...' from his movie Beautiful.
