Wedding photos: Asif Ali ties knot with Zama Masreen

Kannur: Malayalam actor Asif Ali, who had got engaged to Kannur-based Zama Masreen on September 9, 2012, has entered the wedlock with his fiancee Zama on Sunday (May 26, 2013). The couple tied the knot at a traditional Muslim marriage ceremony, which was held at a hotel in the city. But after the traditional wedding, the couple hit the dance floor with friends.

Zama Masreen, who hails from Kannur, is a first year BBA student at a college in Kozhikode. Asif Ali got engaged to her on September 9, 2012, and their engagement was held at Flora Airport Hotel in Cochin. Eight and half months after this event, Asif Ali and Zama tied the knot on Sunday. Their marriage was a private affair and only friends and family members attended the event.

The 27-year-old Asif Ali, who debuted in films with Ritu in 2009, has acted in 22 films in four years. Though he has had a moderate success in the industry, he has become a heartthrob of the younger generation. He has worked with leading actors like Mammootty, Mohanlal, Prithviraj and Jayaram. In a short span of time, he has made many friends in the industry. He has planned to host a grand gala reception for the entire film industry in Kochi on June 1.

Asif Ali was born in Karikkode near Thodupuzha in Idukki. He is the son of the former Municipal Chairman of Thodupuzha Municipality, MP Shoukath Ali and Molly. He also has a younger brother named Askar Ali.

He completed his initial schooling at De Paul Public School, Thodupuzha and Rajarshi Memorial School, Vadavucode Puthencruz, Ernakulam. He got his degree in Business Administration from Marian College, Kuttikkanam.

While pursuing a degree abroad, Asif Ali modelled for ads, worked as a video jockey and was selected by Shyamaprasad to play one of the lead roles in his musical film Ritu, which marked his debut.

Asif Ali made debut through Shyamaprasad's musical film Ritu, co-starring Nishan and Rima Kallingal. He was then approached by Sathyan Anthikadu for Kadha Thudarunnu, starring Jayaram and Mamta Mohandas in the lead roles.

Kadha Thudarunnu was a runaway success and completed 75 days all over Kerala. In his third film Apoorvaragam, directed by veteran Sibi Malayil, he again co-acted with Nishan.

He has completed MA Nishadh's Best Of Luck and debutante Rajesh Kannamkara's Ithu Nammude Katha. Rajesh Pillai's Traffic, written by Sanjay and Bobby, starring Sreenivasan, Kunchacko Boban, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Roma was a big hit.

Asif's movies, Violin directed by Sibi Malayil with Nithya Menon as the heroine of the film and Salt N' Pepper directed by Aashiq Abu starring Lal, Mythili, Shwetha Menon, in which he played one of the main role, was also a big hit.

Other recent performances include role in Sevenes directed by Joshiy and Indian Rupee and Doctor Love in which he did the cameo appearance. Asuravithu and Unnam were his next films.

His film Ordinary with debutant director Sugeeth completed 100 days in a few theatres. His other movies were Ozhimuri, Husbands in Goa Cowboy, Kili Poyi and Red Wine with Mohanlal and Fahad Fazil.
