Acting is not everyone's cup of tea and it is a talent bestowed to a very few people. It requires a wide range of skills, including vocal projection, clarity of speech, physical expression, emotional facility, a well-developed imagination and the ability to interpret story. Different kinds of roles demand different abilities. An actor need to undergo lot of training and do a lot of homework before he/she performs a particular role.
The character of a police officer is one such challenging role and not everyone can playing it easily. Many actors in Malayalam film industry have played cop in various movies, but very few are able to deliver a convincing performance. Although they were talented enough to portray the role, they had to undergo training under real police officers to learn to employ dialects, accents and body language of a cop on screen.

Mammootty has played Circle Inspector Balram Balu in director IV Sasi's 1991 movie Inspector Balram, which was a sequel to the 1986 film Aavanazhi and was followed by a sequel Balram vs Taradas in 2006.
