Prithviraj's Celluloid controversy refuses to die off!

The controversy on Prithviraj starrer Celluloid does not seem to die off as the late Chief Minister K Karunakaran and Malayatoor Ramakrishnan were mentioned by its makers as those responsible for denying justice to JC Daniel.

In a turn of events, M Renjith, the nephew of Chelangatt Gopalakrishnan (Celluloid is based on the biography on filmmaker Daniel, written by C Gopalakrishnan) said that this is a clear case of misunderstanding and his maternal uncle never intended to taint the Congress ministry or its members since their family members had served in key positions with the party.

Speaking about the controversy in the film Celluloid, M Renjith said, "For generations we are Congress supporters. So, there was never an agenda to single out any individual and deride or disrespect them. On the contrary, my uncle had maintained a very good relationship with them."

The congress legislative members and Karunakaran's son K Muraleedharan had alleged that through Celluloid, the filmmakers are trying to taint his father's regime, Renjith says, "This was never an outright attack on the Congress. These events had transpired during CPI's C Achutha Menon's tenure in the 70s."
