Geetanjali Is Different From Manichitrathazhu

Geetanjali is the upcoming movie directed by Priyadarshan. The movie was in news as it is bringing back Mohanlal as Dr Sunny again. He played this role in his earlier film Manichitrathazhu. All Lal-Priyan movies were comedy flicks that had made the audience clinge to their seats with laughter, but Geetanjali is said to be a horror thriller.

Mohanlal says that he was craving to do something unusual in recent time. He was so happy when Priyadarshan approached him for Dr Sunny. Both of them agreed to the fact that Geetanjali is in no way similar to Manichitrathazhu. Four characters of the earlier film will be seen again in Geetanjali and that is the only similarity between the two flicks.

Geetanjali is not a sequel to Manichitrathazhu, says the director. The female lead (Keerthi Menaka) becomes psychic soon after her engagement. Dr Sunny, who treated Ganga (Shobana) in the Manichitrathazhu film, comes to treat the girl in this flick too. Since Keerthi is a chronic psychic patient, Geetanjali is filmed with intense horror.

Apart from Dr Sunny and Ganga, roles played by Innocent and Ganesh are the other two characters taken from Manichitrathazhu. The director has taken special care to include four songs and some classic comedies in the film for relaxation.

Geetanjali is expected to hit the theaters by October. But heavy rain in Kerala has become an obstacle, says the director.

Mohanlal Was Outstanding

Mohanlal played a psychiatric doctor and close friend to Nakulan (Suresh Gopi) in the film. His acting was outstanding in the film. People are waiting to see him again portraying the same role in Geetanjali.

Shobana As Nagavalli

Shobana played the role of Ganga, wife to Suresh Gopi. She portrayed the role of a psychiatric lady in the film, who becomes Nagavalli. She won the Urvashi award for her role.

Suresh Gopi

Suresh Gopi was seen as a reason to introduce Mohanlal in the film. The emotional sequences in the film were excellently delivered by the actor.

Innocent

He played the uncle to Suresh Gopi (Nakulan) in the film. He was more subjected to do the comedy sequences to make the film bit lighter. Those moments are still being watched by people for its natural feel.

KPAC Lalitha

The actress played the role of Innocent's wife in the film. Humour was in air when she appeared on screen.
