Kalabhavan Mani, who was given a summons by the customs officers for carrying undeclared gold, has been reportedly said to be fined a sum of Rs 7,000 by the officials. The customs officers caught hold of a bracelet that Mani was wearing on his return after a foreign trip.
Kalabhavan Mani misbehaved with the customs officials and was afraid to get punished by them, says sources. According to reports, Mani did not co-operate with the officials with the search and he threw away the chain on their desk and walked away from the airport. He even claimed to view the CCTV footage for further clarification.
Later, the officials examined the CCTV footage on November 28, the day when the actor went abroad, found that Mani was wearing the bangle then also. So, Kalabhavan Mani was asked to pay a sum of Rs 5,000 as redemption fee and another sum of Rs 2,000 as penalty.
The matter was adjudicated by Deputy Commissioner Saz Navaz and the bangle was given back to Mani. The actor, who had been summoned by customs officials to appear for questioning on Monday, had failed to get an export certificate from customs with regard to the bangle when he went to Kuwait.
