been
selected
in
the
competition
section
of
the
15th
Mumbai
International
Film
Festival,
to
be
held
from
October
17
to
24.
The
film
was
chosen
for
the
India
Gold
section
by
a
jury
chaired
by
eminent
director
Shyam
Benegal.
It
would
also
be
presented
at
the
Mumbai
film
mart,
where
select
films
from
the
country
are
introduced
to
global
film
distributing
companies.
Actor
and
script-writer
Murali
Gopi,
actress
Lena
and
noted
theatre
artistes
have
played
prominent
roles
in
the
film.
Manoj's
documentary
A
Pestering
Journey
had
won
the
national
award
for
best
investigative
film
in
2010.
The
movie
revolves
around
a
B-grade
talkies
of
the
80s
and
90s.
It's
about
a
theater
owner's
plight;
and
how
his
life
goes
for
a
toss
as
he
puts
his
heart
and
soul
into
running
the
theater.
Ponmudi,
Mahabalipuram
and
Dhanushkodi
were
the
major
locations
of
Kanyaka
Talkies.
The
film
used
live
recording
technology.
National
Award
winner

Harikumar
was
the
location
recordist
and
boom
man
while
US
based
Rajeevan
Iyyapan
did
the
sound
designing
