Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam actress Leena Maria Paul, who was arrested from a farmhouse in Delhi for her involvement in a number of cheating cases, is not debuting in Bollywood with upcoming Hindi movie Madras Cafe. The executive producers of the film claim that the arrested actor was never part of this big-budget project.
Soon after Leena Maria Paul was caught along with her friend Balaji by the police, it was reported that the Malayalam actress, who has starred in Husbands in Goa, Red Chillies, Cobra and Nandalala, is foraying into Bollywood with Madras Cafe. This news came as big shock to the film unit members who denied her association with their upcoming movie.
Talking to Times of India, Tharun Bali, one of the executive producers of Madras Cafe, slammed the reports stating, "Leena was never part of Madras Cafe. We're indeed surprised to hear this." A couple of other members from the film unit say that they have neither seen her during the shoot of the film nor heard about her role in it. They do not know whether she is a part of the project.
Directed by Vicky Donor fame Shoojit Sircar, Madras Cafe is a political thriller, which deals with the subject of terrorism and will be shot in Sri Lanka, South India and Delhi. B-Town's hottest hunk John Abraham is playing lead role - an Indian intelligence agent, while Nargis Fakhri appears as an international reporter. The film is set to release on August 30.

Along with Balaji, Leena had approached Canara Bank in Chennai seeking a Rs 19 crore loan for a big project. After taking the loan, the couple had fled from the place. They were also accused in a Rs 76-lakh cheating case.

With the help of Delhi police, the Chennai police arrested Leena and Balaji in the farmhouse in Fatehpurberi, south Delhi on Tuesday morning. The police interrogation of Leena revealed that Nine luxurious cars - Land Cruiser, Land Rover, BMW, rolls Royce among others - and 81 expensive wrist watches have been recovered.

The cars that the actress owned cost more than Rs 20 crore. Though the actress and her live-in partner Chandrashekhar were involved in a cheating case that gave them Rs 19 crore, the police suspect that some of the cars were stolen by the actress' friend Chandrashekhar.

Officers suspect that the recovered cars might have been stolen by Chandrashekhar because all of them have registration numbers of different states. Sources said the registration number of at least one of the cars - a Rolls Royce Phantom was found to be incorrect.
