After Celluloid, Manjadikuru in trouble

While Kamal's Celluloid has still not come out of controversies, one more Malayalam film - Anjali Menon's Manjadikuru has got into a problem with the Kerala Film Chamber.

The Kerala film chamber claim that the film Manjadikuru was censored in 2007 and this is a re-censored version. Pointing out that Manjadikuru was censored in 2007, Anil V Thomas, general secretary of Kerala Film Chamber said, "The makers claim that they didn't take the certificate then and reapplied for it in 2012, you can't deny the fact that the document exists."

It is also being said that Manjadikuru received accolades in 2008 at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) conducted by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. Reacting to this statement, Anjali Menon said that the film did not get the Censor Board certificate back then since the post-production work of the movie was not complete. She said, "For the same reason, I had to screen it at IFFK 2008 in Digi-Beta version and even turned down invitations to participate in many Indian film festivals. The post-production work was halted because of issues with the co-producers."

According to Anjali, it was only in the year 2010 when her production house took over the project and managed to complete it in 2012. She further added, "The first print was made in 2012 and then the film went for a censorship. However, since we had already applied for censorship and as it's mandatory that every film should have only one censor number, they gave us a certificate with the term 'Revised' because they were not sure what to do in such cases. However, the Board later issued an order saying it's not a revised certificate."

The film stars Prithviraj, Thilakan, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Murali, Rahman, Bindu Panicker and Urvashi among many others. Well, let's hope that Manjadikuru, like any other good film gets the right to participate in the competition.
