Debutant director Mathews Abraham has started shooting for his upcoming movie Bunty Chor in Thiruvananthapuram. On Monday, the opening ceremony of the film was held at Venugopalan Nair's house at Mutttada, where the burglary took place. Delhi based Malayali businessman Nixon, who hails from Kottayam Amalagiri Chakkungal house, is playing the title role in the movie.
The story of Bunty Chor revolves around the life of the hi-tech robber Bunty Chor. The surprise element of the film is that the cash laden bag carried by Bunty gets misplaced in the city. The second half of the film is devoted to show how Bunty tries to trace the bag. Venugopalan, who saw Nixon during the shoot, said that the hero looked quite similar to Bunty and he was very much surprised.
Director Mathews Abraham got to know about Nixon through a prominent modelling agency in Kochi. Ruby Vijayan is producing the film under the banner of Happy and Ruby Cinemas, which had earlier produced Joshy-Mohan Lal's previous movie Lokpal.
Another movie based on the life of Bunty Chor has been titled Story of a Thief and it is in the initial stage. Manoj is directing the movie, which features Sudeer as Bunty. Manoj says that it was he who registered Bunty movie first and will release it first. His film, which will go on floors by June, focuses on the life of Bunty from the time he appeared in reality show to the time he reached Thiruvananthapuram. Bunty's good side as well as his mental state and people he is related to will be picturised.
