The Malayalam industry celebrated the 100 years of Indian Cinema in Chennai yesterday, September 23. Almost all the actors who had contributed to the growth of the industry made their presence felt at the grand event. Mammootty, Mohanlal and Jayaram anchored the function. Many profound celebrities were honoured at the event.
Stars like Kamal Hassan, Madhu, KPAC Lalitha, Urvashi, Suhasini, KS Chithra, Sheela, Sarada, Kunjan, Rekha, Abhirami, TR Omana, IV Sasi, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Parvathi Jayaram, Lizy Priyadarshan, Madhavi, Ambika and many others were present to grace the occasion.
Young stars like Rima Kallingal, Nazriya Nazim, Meera Nandan, Vishnupriya, Isha Sherwani, Akhila, Amala Paul and Vineeth gave stunning dance performances, which enthralled the audience.
Actors like TR Omana, Sarada, Sheela, Madhu and many others were honoured at the event. Mohanlal and Mammootty jointly honoured Madhu, who was celebrating his 80th birthday. Madhu said that he is very much blessed to be a part of the event, which marked the centenary of Indian cinema.
The function were organised in Kerala style. The guests were welcomed with Ganapathi Sthuthi and Kalaripayittu. The stars gave four hour long stunning performances to show their gratitude towards their senior actors. Most of the stars were dressed in Kerala kasavu mundu, sarees and chudidhars to show their respect towards the industry.
