While it's pretty common in Bollywood for star kids to follow their parents' footsteps and join films, it's not the same in Mollywood. The star kids in the Malayalam film industry usually choose academics over film and head in that direction.
Off late, however, the trend is changing and stars like Prithviraj, Indrajith, Fahad Fazil and Dulquar Salman have already made a mark for themselves in tinsel town. To add to these, a whole new bunch of star sons is all set to rock Mollywood.
Krish Sathar (son of yesteryear actors Sathar and Jayabharathi), Niranj Sudheerkumar (Manianpilla Raju's son Niranj), Arjun Ashokan (Harisree Ashokan's son), Jubil and Unni (sons of the late actor Rajan P Dev) are the new star kid entrants. Prithviraj is the son of veteran Malayalam film actor Sukumaran and actress Mallika Sukumaran.
Indrajith Sukumaran is the elder brother of Prithviraj and has made a place for himself in the industry.
Harisree Ashokan's son Arjun made his debut with the film Orkut Oru Ormakkoottu. He will next be seen in Sakkir Madathil's Queue.
Dulquar Salman is the younger son of actor Mammootty and Sulfath and has already made a name for himself.
Fahad's first film was Kaiyethum Doorath (2001) which was directed by his father and prominent director Fazil. The film failed miserably and many thought it was the end of Fahad's career. However, he made a comeback years later and today, he is one of the best and promising actors we have in the industry.
Krish Sathar, son of yesteryear actors Sathar and Jayabharathi, will be seen sharing screenspace with Mohanlal in Siddique's Ladies and Gentleman. Krish, who is a product of the New York Film Academy, had always been passionate about cinema. He did his engineering and worked in the finance sector for a while.
