Thiruvananthapuram: Actress Revathi alias Asha Menon and her husband Suresh Chandra Menon, who have been staying apart for long time, have now officially divorced. It was by mutual consent and a family court in Chennai has granted them divorce considering the fact that they had been living separately for quite some time now. Even after the judicial separation, they would remain good friends.
On Monday, the family court headed by TCS Raja Chockalingam has issued the divorce under Section 13(B) of the Hindu Marriage Act. The judicial separation order reads, "The marriage, solemnized between them is hereby dissolved by decree of divorce by mutual consent."
Revathi and Suresh Chandra Menon officially tied the knot in 1988. Their relationship hit a rough patch almost 15 years after their marriage. After a lot of introspection and thought, they decided to part their ways amicably. In a recent interview, Revathi had also told that she would remain friends with Suresh even after the divorce.

Revathy was born to Major Kelunni in Kochi. While attending school in Chennai, she was spotted by noted Tamil director Bharathiraja, who roped her as heroine for his next Tamil film Mann Vasanai, which became a Silver Jubilee hit.
In the same year - 1983, she also debuted in Malayalam with director Bharathan's Kattathe Kilikkoodu, which was also a hit at the Box Office. Her performance was raved by film critics. Then onwards there is no look back for this Mallu actress.
After acting in few other movies, she was married to actor-cum-director Suresh Chandra Menon in 1988. But the differences arose between the two and they separated in 2002. They do not have children.
Before they parted their ways, they played lead roles in Tamil film Pudhiya Mugam, which was directed by Suresh himself. The movie was successful both critically and commercially.
In 30 years of her experience in the entertainment industry, she has acted in more than 100 movies in different languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi. She has co-starred with leading Malayalam film actor Mohanlal in films like Devasuran and Kilukkam.
She has also featured in several TV serials. Besides this, she has directed several feature-length films and produced multiple television programs.
She is one of the most talented actress of her times down South. For her brilliant performance in various films, she has bagged numerous awards from Filmfare, National Award, Tamil Nadu State Government, Cinema Express and other organisations.
She was last seen in Malayalam movie Molly Aunty Rocks and Tamil film Konjam Koffee Konjam Kaadhal in 2012.
