Best Comedian Category Removed From Kerala State Film Awards

Government
decided
to
remove
the
Best
Comedian
Category
from
the
Kerala
State
Film
Awards
from
next
year.
The
news
was
revealed
by
Minister
for
Cinema,
Thiruvanjoor
Radhakrishnan,
at
the
inaugural
function
of
renovated
Kairali-Sree
theatre
complex,
at
Trivandrum.
The
minister
stated
that,
from
next
year
onwards,
only
Best
Actor
and
Best
Second
Actor
categories
will
be
there
in
the
awards
and
there
won't
be
a
categorisation
between
comedy
and
character
actors.
Earlier,
a
committee
leaded
by
veteran
director
Adoor
Gopalakrishnan
has
filed
a
recommendation
for
removing
the
Best
Comedian
category
from
the
awards;
as
the
award
evaluation
of
2013
raised
so
much
controversies.
Earlier,
most
of
the
actors
including
Jagathy
Sreekumar
and
Salim
Kumar
has
raised
complaints
against
differentiating
actors
as
comedy
and
character
artiste
in
State
Film
Awards.
The
minister
also
revealed
the
decisions
to
increase
the
prize
money
for
J
C
Daniel
Awards
from
next
year.
He
stated
that
the
Government
has
decided
to
increase
the
subsidies
for
good
movie
projects.
The
minister
also
informed
that
the
total
process
of
selecting
movies
movies
for
the
State
Award
will
undergo
a
drastic
change
from
next
year.
