The 9th Asia Vision Film Award ceremony was held at the Sharjah International Stadium. The iconic stars of Indian cinema, including Mollywood's mega star Mammootty, Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Tamil actor Dhanush, Manju Warrier, Shruthi Haasan etc were present in the grand event. Another interesting fact about the award ceremony was, Mammootty and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shared a venue for the first time.

Mammootty won the Best Actor trophy for his performances in the movies Balyakalasakhi and Munnariyippu. Manju Warrier grabbed the Best Actress trophy for her performance in the comeback movie How Old Are You. Dulquer Salmaan was awarded with Performer Of The Year award for his performances in the blockbuster movies Bangalore Days and Vikramadithyan. Nivin Pauly won the Star Of The Year trophy for his performances in various films.

Siddique and Asha Sarath won the trophies for Best Supporting Actors. Sanoop Santhosh won the award for Best Child Artist. Ranjith won the awards for Best Screenplay and Best Direction, for his recently released movie Njaan. Samir Thahir won the award for Best Cinematographer, for his work in Bangalore Days. Gopi Sundar is the Best Music Director and Bijibal won the award for Best Background Score. Harinarayanan is the best lyricist.

Jayaram won a special award for the performances in various movies and completing 30 years in film industry. Joy Mathew, Jayasurya and Nazriya Nazim won the other special awards for the performances in various films. Aju Varghese and Sethulakshmi won the awards for Best Character Actors. Shankar Mahadevan and Vani Jayaram bagged the awards for Best Singers and Najim Arshad won the Singing Sensation award.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was awarded with the Icon Of India Trophy. Bollywood actress Kajol won the Award for Excellence in Hindi Cinema. Tamil Youth Icon Award was awarded to Dhanush and Shruthi Haasan. How Old Are You, directed by Roshan Andrews won the award for the Best Movie of the year. Munnariyippu, directed by Venu won the Outstanding Movie Of The Year award. Om Shanti Oshana won the award for Best Family movie and Bangalore Days won the award for Best Entertainer of the year. Drishyam bagged Popular movie of the year trophy.
