The 9th Asia Vision Film Award ceremony was held at the Sharjah International Stadium. The iconic stars of Indian cinema, including Mollywood's mega star Mammootty, Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Tamil actor Dhanush, Manju Warrier, Shruthi Haasan etc were present in the grand event. Another interesting fact about the award ceremony was, Mammootty and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shared a venue for the first time.

Mammootty won the Best Actor trophy for his performances in the movies Balyakalasakhi and Munnariyippu. Manju Warrier grabbed the Best Actress trophy for her performance in the comeback movie How Old Are You. Dulquer Salmaan was awarded with Performer Of The Year award for his performances in the blockbuster movies Bangalore Days and Vikramadithyan. Nivin Pauly won the Star Of The Year trophy for his performances in various films.

Siddique and Asha Sarath won the trophies for Best Supporting Actors. Sanoop Santhosh won the award for Best Child Artist. Ranjith won the awards for Best Screenplay and Best Direction, for his recently released movie Njaan. Samir Thahir won the award for Best Cinematographer, for his work in Bangalore Days. Gopi Sundar is the Best Music Director and Bijibal won the award for Best Background Score. Harinarayanan is the best lyricist.

Jayaram won a special award for the performances in various movies and completing 30 years in film industry. Joy Mathew, Jayasurya and Nazriya Nazim won the other special awards for the performances in various films. Aju Varghese and Sethulakshmi won the awards for Best Character Actors. Shankar Mahadevan and Vani Jayaram bagged the awards for Best Singers and Najim Arshad won the Singing Sensation award.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was awarded with the Icon Of India Trophy. Bollywood actress Kajol won the Award for Excellence in Hindi Cinema. Tamil Youth Icon Award was awarded to Dhanush and Shruthi Haasan. How Old Are You, directed by Roshan Andrews won the award for the Best Movie of the year. Munnariyippu, directed by Venu won the Outstanding Movie Of The Year award. Om Shanti Oshana won the award for Best Family movie and Bangalore Days won the award for Best Entertainer of the year. Drishyam bagged Popular movie of the year trophy.

Mammukka Talks

Mammootty, the actor who bagged the Best Actor Trophy for his outstanding performances in the movies Munnariyippu and Balyakalasakhi, delivered a funny yet motivational speech at the award function. 

Rocking Comeback

Manju Warrier, the actress who recently made a comeback with Roshan Andrews directed How Old Are You, won the award for Best Actress for her mesmerizing performance as UD clerk Nirupama, in the movie.

Icon of India

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the most beautiful woman of Indian Cinema, was honored with the Icon Of India Trohpy, for her contributions to Indian Cinema.

Shrurthi Haasan, daughter of Kamal Haasan, who established herself as one of the leading actress of South Indian cinema, bagged the award for the Tamil Youth Icon, along with Dhanush. Shruthi, who addressed the audience, expressed her deep desire to work in Malayalam movies.

Dulquer Salmaan, who was sitting beside Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, had a long conversation with his favourite actress. Aishwarya also shared a great rapport with Dulquer's wife Amal Sufiya and had a great time with the young couple.

Shamna Kasim, the dancer-actress was on cloud nine, with the opportunity to dance with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the actress she admires the most. Aishwarya, who made a small stage performance, shaked legs for her hit number Kajrare kajrare.

Dulquer Salamaan was accompanied by his lovely wife Amal Sufiya. The couple thoroughly enjoyed the show and Amal seemed extremely proud to witness her hubby and father-in-law receiving the awards.

Dulquer Salmaan performed onstage, along with music director Gopi Sundar, singers Najim Arshad, Sayanora and anchor Ranjini Haridas etc. The actor sang his popular song Johny Mone Johny from the movie ABCD onstage.

Manju Warrier, the actress who bagged the Best Actress trophy, posed for a picture along with veteran cinematographer-director Santhosh Sivan and popular actress Shruthi Haasan.
