International Dance Day Special: Dancer Turned Actresses In Mollywood!

April 29th is celebrated world wide as International Dance Day. It is the day when we remember great dancers we have seen all these years. With many new styles and forms, dance too has taken its own diversions but, still it is one of the art forms which is looked upon with so much awe and respect.

Dance plays a key role when it comes to movies too. Almost all the actors and actresses are good dancers are well. Some are professionally trained while some learned it after coming into the industry.

As far as Mollywood is concerned, many of the actresses got an entry into the industry after becoming professional dancers. More or less, we can say that dancing paved way for most of the actresses into the film industry.

Mollywood is blessed with so many profound actresses who are professional dancers too. To cite an example, Shobana, the dancer turned actress had quit the industry for many years to concentrate more on her dancing career. She also owns a dance school and also performs dance shows.

Kavya Madhavan, Manju Warrier and Navya Nair were Kalathilakams at the state level youth festival, which opened the gate into the acting world and now, they are famous for their acting too!

Here are some dancer turned actresses in Mollywood...

Shobana

Shobana is the first name that one will utter when it is all about dance. She has dedicated her life into dancing, owns a dance school where she experiments to create new form of dance. Her dance on Krishna is one such example.

Bhanupriya

Bhanupriya is yet another profound dancer in Mollywood. She is popular in almost all the South Indian languages as well as in Bollywood for some peppy dance numbers. She is a trained classical dancer.

Manju Warrier

After Shobana, it will be probably Manju Warrier, who is a profound Mollywood dancer turned actress. She won the Kalathilakam at the Stater Youth festival, which gave way for her into movies.

Her dance performance in a recent time made chance for her comeback into movies after 14 years.

Kavya Madhavan

She is yet another dancing princess of Mollywood, who is a profound classical dancer. She also won the kalathilakam. She made her debut in the industry as child artist after giving some performances at th state level during childhood days.

Lakshmi Gopalaswamy

Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, though a Kannadiga, is more popular in Mollywood. She is a trained dancer and has dedicated her full soul into it. She also give some stage performances for award nites and other popular Television shows.

Asha Sarath

Asha Sarath is an actress but, she is a passionate dancer, who also owns a dance school in Dubai. Her Kairali Kalakendram is now the most sought after dance troupe for all the award nights and stage shows.

Navya Nair

Navya is yet another Kalathilakam, who is also a trained classical dancer. Though she is married and settled in Mumbai, she gave a stage performance recently, which indeed shows her passion for dancing.

Shamna Kasim

Shamna Kasim entered into movies after she gave some mind throbbing dance performances on stage. She rose to popularity with these stage shows. She is a cinematic dancer.

Rima Kallingal

Rima Kallingal too entered into movies through her dancing skill. She is a trained dancer in contemporary style and always keeps a passion for the same even now. She is also a stage performer and has done several dance shows.

Revathy

Last but not the least, Revathy, who gave a stunning dance performance in the movie Devasuram, is also a trained dancer. But, now she has stopped dancing and has movies into direction.
