Mammootty, who has already enthralled the audience with his spectacular performance in and as Pazhassi Raja, is all set to rope himself once again in yet another epic role. If reports are to be believed, Mammootty was quoted saying that a movie maker has approached him to make a movie on Perumal's life and play the lead role in it.
"I have agreed to it and we are now planning to co-produce it in association with the Oman Film Society (OFS). Talks will be held (about this) with Dr Khalid Al Zedjali, the Chairman of the Oman Film Society," Mammootty was quoted by the newspaper.
Mammootty, who was at Muscat International Film Festival recently said, "History reveals that there were strong trade links between Kerala and Arab countries during the first decade AD itself. And Cheraman Perumal, the last Chera ruler, is known as the first Indian King to embrace Islam and toil for its spread in Kerala. So, I am excited to be the part of this legendary movie."
Meanwhile, Mammootty starred movie Priase The Lord received a lukewarm response at the Box Office. The much-hyped movie Gangster, which is set to get released on April 11, will see the actor in five different looks in the movie. He plays Akbar Ali Khan, a don, in this movie, directed by Aashiq Abu.
