Prithviraj, the young promising actor of Mollywood, celebrates his 32nd birthday today. The actor, who started his journey into movies from the age of 18, has proved his mettle in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi movie industries. He always stands out of the crowd with his courage and outspoken nature. He is a man who never shies away from speaking his mind out in any platform. And all these qualities makes him distinctive from his contemporaries.

Prithviraj, the younger son of veteran actor Sukumaran and actress Mallika Sukumaran, made his acting debut with Ranjith directed Nandanam, opposite Navya Nair, at the age of 18. The actor took up his debut movie as a vacation timepass and was least serious about pursuing a career in the field of cinema. Later, he fell in love with cinema and discovered his passion for this magical art form.

Prithviraj has completed almost 80 movies within a career span of 12 years. He had faced several low phases in his career; but always made a comeback from such phases with an electrifying performance. He is one of the actors who became the prey of social media attacks. He was drawn into controversies, during many occasions; especially after his marriage. But despite all those things, the audience are extremely fond of him at any point of time.

Prithviraj made his acting debut with Nandanam, directed by Ranjith. The actor earned rave reviews for his portrayal of Manu, an innocent young man who falls in love with the servant girl.


Classmates was a turning point in the career of Prithviraj. He played Sukumaran, a headstrong students leader in the movie, directed by Lal Jose. The movie emerged as one of the highest ever grossers of Malayalam cinema.


Prithviraj went through a complete image makeover with Vaasthavam directed by Padmakumar. He won his first Best Actor trophy in Kerala State Film Awards, for his portrayal of Balachandran Adiga, a man with some grey shades.


Prithviraj played the real life character Naxalite Varghese in Thalappavu. The movie was the directorial debut of actor Madhupal. 


Thirakkatha was inspired from the real life love story of actors Kamal Hassan and Srividya. Prithviraj played a young filmmaker Akbar Ahmed in the movie, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam.


Prithviraj made his production debut with Urumi, under the banner August Cinema. the actor played the historical character Chirakkal Kelu Nambiar and happy-go-lucky guy Krishnadas, in the movie directed by Santhosh Sivan.

Indian Rupee

Indian Rupee was the second production venture by Prithviraj. The actor played a young man Jayaprakash, who is in a verge to make money at any cost, in the movie directed by Ranjith. Indian Rupee won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam.

Ayalum Njanum Thammil

Prithviraj played Dr. Ravi Tharakan, a cardiac surgeon in the movie directed by Lal Jose. The actor earned rave reviews for his performance as a care-free guy in his 20's and a dedicated doctor in his 40's.


Prithviraj played the Father of Malayalam cinema J C Daniel, in the movie directed by Kamal. The actor won his second Kerala State Film Award and Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor, for his performance in the movie.

Mumbai Police

Prithviraj played the rough and tough COP Antony Moses IPS in the movie directed by Roshan Andrews. The actor earned highly positive reviews for his stunning performance and the character is considered as one of the most daring Police character done by any lead actor in Mollywood.
