6 Highest Ever Grossers Of Malayalam Cinema

Malayalam Cinema is back on the success track with some whopping box office hits in the recent past. The movie industry would have undergone many ups and downs when it completes 87 years in 2015.

Undoubtedly our industry consists of the most talented film-makers and actors of the country. Malayalam Cinema has always been recognized in the National and International platforms for the quality of the films produced.

But when it comes to the movie business, ours is the tiniest industry of the country and probably in the whole world. Huge box office figures were almost unimaginable and we determined the success on the basis of the running period of the movie.

Movies like Godfather and Manichitrathazhu were considered as the biggest hits of Malayalam, only because they completed 400 successful days in the theatre. But the exact box office figures still remain a mystery.

But things are different now. It all started with the release of the massive multi-starrer movie Twenty 20. The movie industry was astonished to learn that the movie crossed 30 Crores gross collection at the box office.

However, it took some time to recreate the box office magic, again. Mohanlal starrer Drishyam later emerged as the highest ever grosser of Malayalam Cinema, by collecting about 75 Crores at the box office.

Still remains as the highest ever grosser of Malayalam Cinema. The Mohanlal starrer movie collected approximately 75 Crores at the box office.

Premam

Premam comes at the second place by collecting about 60 Crores at the box office. The movie was expected to break the records of Drishyam; but couldn't make it due to piracy issues.

Bangalore Days

The multi-starrer movie directed by Anjali Menon comes in the thrid position, with a gross collection of 48 Crores.

Ennu Ninte Moideen

The movie has already crossed 30 Crores gross collection within the first month of release. It is the first solo hit of Prithviraj.

Twenty 20

The movie, which is known as the 'mother of multi-starrers' introduced the 30 Crore club to the industry. Twenty 20 collected about 33 Crores from the box office.

Pazhassi Raja

The Mammootty starrer movie remains as the biggest solo hit in the actor's career, with a gross collection of 32 Crores.
