#FilmiFiesta 2015: Best Malayalam Movie Of The Year
News
oi-Akhila
By Akhila Menon
2015
was
a
partially
successful
year,
with
some
highly
appreciated
movies,
as
well
as
the
biggest
flops
in
the
history
of
the
Malayalam
movie
industry.
But
after
the
overall
evaluation,
we
can
say
that
2015
was
not
a
satisfying
year
for
Mollywood.
Mollywood's
journey
started
this
year
with
the
release
of
Sand
City,
the
romantic
thriller
directed
by
actor-director
Shankar.
The
industry
witnessed
approximately
1536
releases
so
far.
Rockstar,
the
VK
Prakash
directed
musical
love
story
was
the
last
film
which
hit
the
theatres.
It
was
a
brilliant
year
for
the
industry
when
it
comes
to
business,
as
a
few
movies
went
on
to
break
all
so-called
collection
records.
Movies
including
Premam,
Ennu
Ninte
Moideen,
Pathemari,
etc
performed
extremely
well
at
the
box
office
and
earned
the
critical
acclaim
as
well.
Prithviraj
starrer
Picket
43,
the
emotional
drama
film,
directed
by
Major
Ravi,
is
the
first
success
of
the
year.
Nivin
Pauly
starrer
Oru
Vadakkan
Selfie
is
the
first
blockbuster
of
2015.
Alphonse
Puthren
directed
romantic
comedy
Premam,
which
also
had
Nivin
in
the
lead,
remains
the
highest
grosser
of
the
year.
When
it
comes
to
the
Kerala
State
Film
Awards,
2015
was
a
surprising
year
for
the
audiences
and
media,
as
the
mainstream
movies
won
the
awards
in
the
maximum
categories.
The
awards
were
announced
in
August;
which
was
extremely
late.
It
was
a
disappointing
year
for
the
industry
at
the
National
Level,
as
we
failed
to
make
it
big
in
the
National
Film
Awards
2015
platform.
Mollywood
ended
up
with
just
5
awards;
unlike
the
earlier
years.
Mammootty
and
Jayasurya
were
considered
for
the
Best
Actor
award
till
the
final
round.

Premam
It
is
not
only
the
biggest
hit
of
the
year;
but
the
Nivin
Pauly
starrer directed
by
Alphonse
Puthren
was
a
different
yet
commendable
movie
attempt.
Surely
deserves
a
nomination!

not
a

either.
