Malayalam Cinema Avoids Narain?

By Akhila Menon

Narain is undoubtedly one of the most underrated actors of Malayalam Cinema. The actor has a huge fan following among the Malayali audiences; but has always been sidelined by the movie industry.

When he was asked about his language preferences in a recent interview, Narain openly stated that he prefers Tamil industry. The actor states that he receives more offers from Tamil than Malayalam. But Narain still hopes for a good break in M'town.

The actor made a place in Mollywood with his initial films and achieved stardom with his performance as Murali in the blockbuster movie Classmates. The critics and audiences confirmed that he is the next 'big thing' in M'town.

But despite the expectations, Narain slowly disappeared from the industry. According to the actor, he was flooded with similar roles after the success of Classmates. But he wanted to shed his lover boy image and went for an image makeover.

Narain later appeared in some Malayalam films including Grandmaster, Three Dots, Ayalum Njanum Thammil etc; but again disappeared from the industry. But the actor played a series of different roles in Tamil.

He feels that staying away is far better than getting typecasted. Narain has the potential to pull off variety characters and is more talented than most of our overrated young actors. We hope that the industry will provide him with better roles soon.
