Malayalam Cinema: Onam Releases 2015
After the highly disappointing Ramzan season, Malayalam Cinema is all set to welcome the Onam season with huge hope. The industry will witness some prestigious projects hitting the theatres for Onam.
It is the biggest releasing season for the industry and Onam is one of those seasons which strongly influence the overall economical status of the Malayalam movie industry. But since last few years, no blockbusters have happened in the Onam season.
Some of the factors which badly affect the Onam movie market is doubtlessly the downfall in the quality of movies, increasing numbers of Television movie premieres and last but not the least, piracy.
But this time, the scenario is expected to take a different turn, as some highly anticipated bid budget films are releasing for Onam. Loham, Utopiayile Rajavu, Double Barrel etc are some of the big projects which await the release.
Along with the expensive films, some small projects are also getting ready to hit the theatres for this Onam; which is doubtlessly commendable. But there are also chances to postpone the releases due to various reasons.
Some other projects, which were expected to release this season, will hit the theatres a week after Onam. As per the sources, Life Of Josutty and Amar Akbar Anthony are the two projects which are expected to be released immediately after Onam.

Loham
Mohanlal starrer Loham, written and directed by Ranjith, is expected to hit the theatres on August 20th. The movie, which is said to be an action-thriller, will have Andrea Jeremiah in the female lead.
Utopiayile Rajavu
The Mammootty starrer movie, directed by Kamal, is expected to release for August 27th, the Uthradam day. Utopiayile Rajavu, written by PS Rafeeq, will have Jewel Mary in the female lead.
Double Barrel
Double Barrel, the multi-starrer movie directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, will hit the theatres on August 27th. The movie will have Prithviraj, Indrajith, Arya, Asif Ali, and Sunny Wayne in the lead roles.
Jamnapyari
Jamnapyari, the Kunchacko Boban starrer directed by Thomas Sebastian will be released for Onam. The actual release date is yet to be announced. Former Miss Kerala Gayathri Suresh makes her acting debut with the movie.
Kunjiramayanam
Kunjiramayanam, the comedy entertainer directed by newcomer Basil Joseph is also expected to release for Onam. The movie will have Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, and Srinda Ashab in the lead roles.
Amar Akbar Anthony
The movie, which marks the directorial debut of Nadhirshah, was initially slated for Onam. The team reportedly shifted the release post Onam, to avoid the clash with Prithviraj and Indrajith's Double Barrel.
Life Of Josutty
The Dileep starrer movie, directed by Jeethu Joseph is expected to release immediately after Onam. Initially, the team was planning for an Onam release; but dropped the idea due to technical issues.
