Mammootty Replaces Mohanlal As AMMA General Secretary

Mammootty has replaced Mohanlal as the general secretary of actors association, AMMA. Mammootty has been selected to the post, in the general body meeting which was conducted on May 15th.

Innocent will continue as the president of AMMA. Mohanlal and KB Ganesh Kumar will be the vice-presidents. Dileep will continue as the treasurer. No elections will be conducted to select the executive committee members, this year.

Mohanlal has been serving as the general secretary of AMMA since last 9 years. But Mammootty, who was staying away from the executive committee due to unknown reasons, is making a comeback after a long gap of 12 years.

The 2015-2017 committee is expected to take over the charge by next week. Members consider Mammootty's comeback as a positive sign and the association is eagerly waiting to know the agendas of the new committee.

AMMA is the first ever actors association of the Indian Cinema platform. The formation and smooth running of the association resulted in the birth of actors associations in all major movie industries of the country.

The name AMMA was suggested by the late actor Sukumaran, who is also the father of Indrajith and Prithviraj. The association consists of about 320 members, according to the recent statistics.
