Sources suggest that the superstar is extremely impressed with the subject of the movie and Mammootty's performance. Reportedly, Siddique, who directed Bhaskar The Rascal, will be directing the Tamil remake as well.

Earlier, Rajnikanth was about to remake the critically acclaimed Thanmathra, but the project was shelved due to unknown reasons. He was also planning to remake blockbuster movie Drishyam, but the project went on to Kamal Haasan.

Rajni has earlier acted in the remakes of some highly popular Malayalam movies; Muthu, Chandramukhi, Kuselan etc, which were the remakes of Thenmavin Kombathu, Manichitrathazhu and Kadha Parayumbol repectively.

If things fall in place, Nayantara will reprise her role from the original in the Tamil remake. Director Siddique has reportedly agreed to cast the actress in the other remakes as well.

However, the reports are not officially confirmed yet. According to the closest sourses, Rajnikanth is expected to start filming for Shankar's Enthiran 2 and Madras fame Ranjith's untitled movie soon.
