Suresh
Gopi,
the
actor
who
is
all
set
to
try
a
hand
in
politics,
openly
stated
his
support
for
the
beef
ban,
issued
by
the
Maharashtra
Government.
Suresh
Gopi
says
that
it
is
the
duty
of
a
responsible
citizen,
to
obey
the
rules
issued
by
the
Judiciary
and
Government.
The
actor
revealed
that
he
and
his
family
members
have
never
consumed
beef.
Suresh
Gopi
opened
up
about
his
take
on
the
recently
implemented
bill,
which
is
based
on
the
Animal
Welfare
Act
of
1976;
in
a
recent
interview.
But,
beef
ban
has
been
receiving
huge
oppositions
from
the
media
and
public.
According
to
the
Maharashtra
Animal
Preservation
Amendment,
killing
the
animals
including
cow
and
buffalo,
and
consumption
of
meat
are
subjects
to
crime.
The
culprits
will
be
sentenced
to
5
years
of
imprisonment
without
bail
and
10000
Rs
fine.
The
bill,
which
was
passed
in
1995,
has
been
implemented
now,
with
the
consent
of
the
President
of
India.
Suresh
Gopi,
who
is
all
set
to
join
the
Bharathiya
Janatha
Party
soon,
has
been
highly
active
for
the
social
cause.
The
actor
has
always
been
a
subject
of
controversies,
with
his
outspoken
nature.
If
the
reports
are
to
be
believed,
Suresh
Gopi
will
contest
in
the
upcoming
Lok
Sabha
elections,
as
a
BJP
candidate.
The
authorities
of
the
party
are
reportedly
very
keen
to
have
the
actor
on
the
boards.
