Amala Was The First Choice For Revathi's Role
Interestingly, popular actress Amala was the initial choice for the character portrayed by Revathi. But, she couldn't allot the dates owing to her busy schedules. Later, Revathi replaced her in that role.
Jagadish Had More Number Of Scenes
Jagadish had appeared in a cameo in the film Kilukkam. But, according to certain reports, the actor had more number of scenes, but the director had to remove those scenes, owing to the running length of the film.
First Malayalam Film To Gross 5 Crores
Kilukkam was a big box-office success and it did run continuously for 365 days in some theatres. The film is one of the first Malayalam films to gross an amount of 5 Crores from the theatres.
Dubbing For Revathi
Interestingly, the first half of the film had Revathi dubbing for herself. But, in the second half of the film, the renowned dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi dubbed for Revathi's character.
Won Numerous Number Of Awards
In fact, Kilukkam is one of the first commercial films in Malayalam, which won numerous number of Kerala State Awards. The film did won 5 Kerala State Film Awards, which included the awards for the Best Actor, Best Second Actor, Best Popular Film etc.
Remade In To Other Languages
Kilukkam was a huge success in Kerala and it did pave way for the film to be made in different languages. Priyadarshan remade the film in Hindi. In 1992, a Telugu version of the film was also released.
A Sequel In 2006
A sequel of the film titled as Kilukkam Kilukilukkam was released in 2006. The film directed by Sandhya Mohan had Jayasurya, Kunchacko Boban and Kavya Madhavan in the lead roles. Mohanlal did an extended cameo in the film.
Maximum Number Of Television Screenings
Kilukkam is one of the very few Malayalam movies, which have had maximum number of television screenings. The film has been aired on Television channels umpteen number of times and still, the demand for the movie is huge.
The film directed by Priyadarshan is considered to be one of the best comedy entertainers of all time. Kilukkam, had its script written by actor-director Venu Nagavally.
The best part of the film is that the film had a good storyline. The comic sequences were not forced and it looked more real and natural.
The film had sparkling performances from all the major actors. Mohanlal was scintillating as Joji, and Jagathy did steal most of the scenes with his portrayal of Nischal.
