6 Malayalam Films To Introduce You To Supriya Films!

If reports are to be believed, the renowned production house, Supriya Films, is planning for a comeback to Malayalam cinema with Prathap Pothen's directorial venture which has Dulquer Salmaan in the lead.

For all those who don't know much about this production house, we hereby list some of the prominent films that they have given to Malayalam cinema. Take a look.

Aswamedham (1967)

Aswamedham directed by A Vincent had a stellar star cast comprising of Satyan, Prem Nazir, Madhu, Sheela etc. The film was a big hit and it carried an important social message.

Nizhalattam (1970)

Nizhalattam, produced by Hari Pothan, was directed by A Vincent and had its script written by M T Vasudevan Nair. The film which starred Prem Nazir is considered to be one of the classics of Malayalam cinema and the actor's performance in the film is considered to be one of his best.

Rathinirvedam (1978)

Who could forget this classic directed by Bharathan and written by P Padmarajan? The film went on to be a trendsetter. The film was produced by Hari Pothen under the banner of Supriya Creations.

Arappatta Kettiya Gramathil (1986)

Here is another venture of Supriya films which attained a cult classic status. This film directed Padmarajan was way ahead of its time, and it featured Mammootty, Nedumudi Venu, Asokan etc in the lead roles.

Aparan (1988)

Aparan directed by P Padmarajan gave a talented actor to the industry. Yes, we are talking about actor Jayaram. The film was produced by Ajitha Hari under the banner of Supriya Films.

Malootty (1992)

Malootty directed by Bharathan is one of the Malayalam films that tried to move away from the regular path, back then. The film which won wide critical acclaim was produced under the banner of Supriya International.

Supriya films has been a prominent face in South Indian Film Industry. The production house formed by Hari Pothen has made some vital contributions, especially to Malayalam cinema.

Hari Pothen is the brother of renowned actor Prathap Pothen. Hari Pothen has associated with directors like Bharathan and Padmarajan to give some evergreen classics of Malayalam cinema.

Supriya films can also be credited for the change that the industry witnessed in the late 70's and 80's. They did fund for movies which were out of the box and highly innovative.

The comeback of this banner is indeed a good news for Malayalam cinema. If reports are to be believed, Supriya Films would be producing this Dulquer starrer in association with Rajaputhra films.

Udaya Pictures, another prominent production house is also coming back through the Kunchacko Boban starrer Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho.
