Manjil Virinja Pookkal (1980)
Manjil Virinja Pookkal, which released in the year 1980, did introduce a host of newcomers. The film had Shankar and Poornima Jayaram in the lead roles and Mohanlal made his debut as a villain through this film. The film, went on to become a blockbuster and was a trendsetter back then.
Fazil has this talent to spot new actors and once again, he did that with Aniyathipravu, released in the year 1997. The film marked the debut of Kunchacko Boban and Shalini as lead actors. Shalini had made a mark in the industry as a child artist. Aniyathipravu, which narrated a love story, went on to complete 100 days of run in many theatres.
Nammal, directed by Kamal, introduced some young actors to the industry. The film had senior actors in supporting roles but the lead roles were handled by actors like Sidharth Bharathan, Jishnu Raghavan, Bhavana, Renuka Menon etc. Nammal went on to become a big hit.
4 The People (2004)
This movie directed by Jayaraj was a real trendsetter. It all began with the song Lajjavathiye.. that went on to become a rage among the youth. Later, the film also won the hearts of the people and was one of the biggest hits of the year.
Malarvadi Arts Club (2010)
Malarvadi Arts Club, which marked the debut of Vineeth Sreenivasan as a director, gave Malayalam film industry a bunch of new talents. Actors like Nivin Pauly, Aju Varghese, Bhagath Manuel, Harikrishnan, Shravan etc., made their acting debut with this film. The film emerged as a superhit.
Second Show (2012)
Second Show, the debut film of Dulquer Salmaan, had a host of newcomers in front and behind the camera. The film directed by Srinath Rajendran also introduced actor Sunny Wayne. The movie, which won the hearts of the youth, set the cash registers ringing.
Aanandam, has been directed by Ganesh Raj, who earlier assisted directors like Vineeth Sreenivasan and Anjali Menon. In fact, Aanandam has been produced by Vineeth Sreenivasan under the banner, Habit Of Life productions.
The film paves way for the debut of young actors like Thomas, Annu, Vishak, Arun, Rodhan, Siddhi, Anarkali etc. The movie, which primarily narrates the story of a group of engineering students, has struck the right chords with the audiences.
Reportedly, the film which released on October 21, 2016, went on to fetch close to 2.2 Crores within the 3 days of its run. It is indeed a great achievement, considering the fact that the film doesn't have any big names in the cast list.
